A lot of new parents are presented with various decisions in terms of preparing for their new bundle of joy, and selecting a crib is not out of the issue. There are a gazillion styles to choose from and a wide range of materials to look at to. Finding a baby crib is not as easy as you thought it is.

The Old Standard: A Wooden Baby Crib

Based on the many designs through time, the most common style is still that of a wooden baby crib. Ever since then, wooden baby cribs and other wooden baby items have dressed up the nursery area. And this complements well the different kinds of themes and styles any baby's room has. Wooden baby items such as cribs, cradles and bassinets still stand out today. With wooden baby cribs, parents may choose either from solid wooden baby cribs or wooden veneered baby cribs. It's really up to the parents what they will choose and whichever will fit their budget.

Out of the many traditional styles of the wooden baby cribs, the most popular one is that of the Jenny Lind style. These types of wooden baby cribs are very much simple in nature, with all four sides made with turned spindles. The turned spindles are distinct in terms of their knobby appearance. This then adds a style to the whole wooden baby crib.

The next option after the previously stated is the sleigh wooden baby crib which is actually a miniature version of the sleigh bed. This has become quite popular in the last decade and most of them are even convertible enabling children to use it even through their growing up years. As this is a smaller version of the sleigh bed, it has distinctively curved headboards and footboards, creating a somewhat horse drawn sleigh.

There are novelty types of the wooden baby cribs. One of which is the round cribs which is basically made of spindles, a style similar to that of the Jenny Lind wooden baby crib. There are also corner cribs which are ideal for limited spaces at home. The only disadvantage for wooden baby cribs is that they require a customized mattress type and bedding.

But whatever the style of the wooden baby crib you choose within the wide range of selections available, this will still fit any style and décor of your baby's nursery area. There are finishes such as cherry or mahogany which are darker in shade as well as maple or blonde which are lighter and quite a standard. Moreover, there are some veneered wooden baby cribs which you might choose as an option for you to choose.
