A Universe Without God?

For religious people the idea of a Universe without a God is so profound that some of them never ever contemplated that it could be like that. They base their life on what they have been told to believe. Then other people come from a different background and have different ideas?

Let me start this article by saying that I do not try to prove the one is right and the other is wrong. I merely want to explain that in real life things are not always as they seem. The more we believe we have it right, the more we can be proven wrong. An example is that in the sport of Boxing, or Golf or Cycling or many other there are certain ways to hold your hands, move your feet and smaller things you need to learn as the basics. Experts will tell you that if you do it wrong you will not make it in that sport. And yet a man such as Muhammad Ali did everything wrong, but for him it was right. But let us come back to our discussion.

Who has it right then?

Religious people think they have it right and atheists think they have it right. And the winner is nobody. There is no answer, at least not for now that we know about. Religious people should base their belief on faith in a God. That is the only way they should do it and keep doing it. There is nothing to gain trying to convince someone of your belief but there is a lot to loose. Because for every point you try to prove there is a fact that can prove the contrary. When you make God the reason for your life you can blame everything on him and you can give him the entire honor. But you can not prove His existence.

On the other side you have the Astronomers, scientists and the rest who do not believe in the existence of a Creator. Not to say that members of this group do not believe in God. Only to say that there should be a separation between the scientific questions and religious questions. There is no need for a scientist to prove the existence of a Creator. I believe many would have like too but it is only possible if you have faith in a Creator. The contrary is also true. There is no need for a religious person to prove a Creator does exist. His faith should cover that part.

To conclude instead of fighting each other each person should keep himself occupied with the question at hand. Needless to say when you are a scientist and you study the Universe the religious questions will come to mind but then you deal with them on that level. Darwin, Einstein, Newton, Hawking, Galileo all had to wonder about the place of a Creator but the fact that Galileo figured the Sun was the center of the Solar System did not have to influence his idea of God. The Church of the time made a terrible mistake and asking Galileo to retract his statement showed their ignorance of this distinct separation of subjects. The mighty church was proven wrong by a single man with insight. It happened and will happen again.
